This membership enhances BKT's commitment to promoting sustainable practices in the production, sourcing, and use of natural rubber, aligning with global best practices.
Distributed in Ireland by Agrigear Tyre and Wheel Specialists, BKT is known for its rapid adaptation to international standards. By joining GPSNR, BKT underscores its dedication to principles such as sustainable forestry, water resource management, protection of rights and territories, human and labour rights, equality, traceability, transparency, anti-corruption measures, and education and training.
Environmental and Social Benefits of Sustainable Natural Rubber Production
Natural rubber production presents opportunities for significant environmental and social improvements. Sustainable practices can help protect biodiversity, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and ensure dignified working conditions on rubber plantations. GPSNR plays a crucial role in addressing these challenges by bringing together various stakeholders, including natural rubber producers, traders, tyre manufacturers, NGOs, academic institutions, and other industry partners.
Membership in GPSNR enables BKT to align its natural rubber supply chain with the organization's guidelines and access standardized sustainability reporting and digital compliance platforms. These tools are vital for meeting the requirements of the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective from December 2024.
