In a major development, BKT has completed the construction of a state-of-the-art tyre mould plant at its Bhuj site in Gujarat, India. This milestone marks a significant step in BKT’s expansion and modernisation of its largest production facility.
A €32.8 Million Investment in the Future
The new mould plant is part of a substantial investment of approximately €32.8 million (Rs 3 billion). This financial commitment underscores BKT’s dedication to enhancing its production capabilities and maintaining its competitive edge in the global tyre market. With the new plant operational, BKT aims to increase its production capacity from 285,000 metric tonnes per annum to 360,000 metric tonnes by the end of the financial year 2024.
Strengthening Production Capabilities
The Bhuj plant, a cornerstone of BKT’s manufacturing operations since its establishment in 2012, has continually evolved through strategic upgrades:
- 2012: Operations commenced, setting the foundation for future expansions.
- 2018: Announced a capital expenditure plan for further development.
- 2020: Completed Phase 2, achieving self-reliance in carbon black production.
These upgrades have positioned Bhuj as a critical hub in BKT’s production network, enhancing its ability to meet rising global demand for high-quality tyres.
Commitment to Innovation and Quality
Rajiv Poddar, Joint Managing Director of BKT, highlighted the importance of the new plant, stating that it represents not just a financial investment but a commitment to innovation and quality. The facility is equipped with the latest technology and automation, ensuring that BKT continues to produce tyres that meet the highest standards.
Supporting Global Market Expansion
BKT’s continuous investments in its Bhuj facility are vital for its global expansion strategy. With products sold in over 160 countries, the enhanced production capacity and advanced manufacturing techniques are crucial for meeting the needs of the global off-highway tyre market.
Looking Ahead
The completion of the new tyre mould plant at Bhuj is a significant achievement for BKT, signalling its ongoing commitment to growth, innovation, and quality. As the company continues to expand its capabilities, it remains poised to meet the evolving demands of its customers worldwide, reinforcing its position as a leader in the off-highway tyre industry.
The BKT team continues to strive ahead and expand its facilities. The completion of the Bhuj mould plant marks a key step in BKT’s business plan to increase its annual production capacity to 600,000 metric tonnes and double its turnover to $ 2 billion in 2026.
