The Meath Steam Run 2024, held in early July, proved to be a remarkable event, uniting the community and raising substantial funds for Breast Cancer Awareness and Féileacáin. Again this year, Agrigear Tyre and Wheel Specialists proudly sponsored one of the magnificent steam engines, underscoring our commitment to supporting local initiatives and charitable causes.

A Journey Through Meath
The event, organized in collaboration with Celtic Steamers and the Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival, saw 20 full-size steam engines and five miniature ones traverse through the towns of Athboy, Trim, Navan, and Kells, culminating in Moynalty. This convoy of historic engines not only provided a nostalgic spectacle for onlookers but also played a crucial role in raising awareness and funds for the chosen charities.

Participants and spectators had the unique opportunity to see these engineering marvels up close. Many families took photos, and children learned about the steam engine era and enjoyed rides on trailers pulled by the steam engines. The event kicked off with a gathering in Trim and Athboy on the evening of July 4th, followed by the main run starting from Trim Castle on July 5th. The streets of Navan buzzed with excitement as the steam engines lined Trimgate Street on July 6th, creating an unforgettable experience for all who attended.

Community and Collaboration
The success of the Meath Steam Run 2024 was a testament to the collective effort of volunteers, sponsors, and local businesses. Agrigear is honoured to have been part of this initiative, sponsoring one of the engines and contributing to the good cause. Many local collaborations with Celtic Steamers and other organisers ensured the smooth execution of the event, despite the complexities involved in coordinating such a large convoy.
The run concluded in Moynalty with live music, food vendors, a full bar, and a BBQ, providing a festive atmosphere for attendees. The funds raised from sponsorships, bucket collections, and public donations exceeded expectations, highlighting the community's generosity and commitment to supporting critical causes.

Looking Ahead: Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival
As we reflect on the success of the Meath Steam Run, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival on August 11th, 2024. This 49th annual event, set in the picturesque grounds of the Moynalty Steam Threshing Museum and parkland, will celebrate Ireland's rich agricultural heritage. The festival will kick off on August 10th with a steam and vintage tractor run, setting the stage for a weekend filled with traditional threshing demonstrations, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
